Fires!!!!!!

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

As some of you know, Brevard County has basically been on fire for the past two days. This afternoon it really hit home...literally. These are pictures from our neighborhood as we watched the surrounding area burn.

A couple of weeks ago there was a fire right in front of our house and it wasn't nearly as scary as this has been. The worst part is that someone is deliberately setting these fires and we haven't had any rain in 37 days and there is no rain in the future.

  • Pray for ALL the people in Brevard County, specifically the people in Palm Bay who have lost their homes (51 homes as of right now).
  • Pray for some desperately needed rain.
  • Pray for God's protection over our home
  • Pray for wisdom of the people searching for the arsonist and pray for strength and safety for the firefighters.
Praise the Lord that our home is currently safe. The fire moved away from our home but there is always danger of flare ups. When the smoke started getting thick, I got out the sprinklers and started soaking our grass as best I could. When Anthony got home from work, he climbed up on the roof and we put both sprinklers up there and kept our roof wet from 6 (ish) until just now at midnight when Anthony finally turned it off. If we need to, we will turn it back on tomorrow. The fire did creep towards our house, jumping the canal a few streets over. We panicked and packed up all the things that couldn't be replaced and a few necessities and loaded up the car. Now we face the issue of do we unpack or do we keep everything together just in case?

If it were me, I'd keep everything packed up just in case. Stay safe! Praying for you guys!

Wow, I had no idea! I'm bad about not keeping up with the news like I should. Is everything okay now? Are you still packed and ready to go?
